The Weekly Bulletin is ready for you early this week so you can begin to prepare for the weather.

Winter Weather Has Arrived

National Weather Service Portland is reporting the area's coldest temperatures so far this season beginning Friday night, January 12 through at least Monday, January 15.


  • Lowland snow possible for most locations below 1500 feet Friday into Saturday.
  • Friday morning commute may see wintry weather with possible rain /snow mix and a low temp at or below freezing.
  • Freezing rain possible Friday into Saturday for the Coast Range and Oregon Coast.


The Clatsop County Emergency Management Department will continue to watch the forecast and issue updates as needed. We'll post future weather updates on social media and Nextdoor.

Closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day


Clatsop County offices will close Monday, January 15, in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday. We will resume regular business hours Tuesday, January 16.

Housing Amendments Public Information Session

Clatsop County Community Development is hosting an information session regarding proposed changes to the County’s Land and Water Development and Use Code (LAWDUC), which is the County’s zoning code.  


The proposed changes are intended to simplify the housing construction process. The changes were presented to the Board of Commissioners at a meeting on October 4.


The hybrid information session is 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 16 at the Judge Guy Boyington Building, 857 Commercial Street in Astoria and via Zoom.

Volunteers Sought for Clatsop County Boards, Councils and Committees

Volunteer Positions Expiring Tomorrow, January 12, 2024

Clatsop County is welcoming applications for open seats on the following Committees and Councils:


  • Ambulance Services Area Advisory Council
  • Human Services Advisory Council
  • Recreational Lands Planning Advisory Committee


The application deadline is tomorrow, Friday, January 12, 2024. To apply for one of these open volunteer positions, please submit an online application at ClatsopCounty.gov.

Public Works

Clatsop County Public Works Schedule for Tuesday, January 16 - Friday, January 19

Crews will be conducting:


  • Brushing on Youngs River Road
  • Ditching on Lower River Road, Fort Clatsop Road and Brownsmead area
  • Brush chopping on Wadsworth Road, Conifer Lane and Mudd Lane
  • Performing culvert maintenance county wide including possible culvert jetting on Lower Nehalem Road
  • Monitoring for inclement weather affecting the roads

May 2024 Primary Election Candidate Filing Opens

The candidate filing window has opened for the May 21, 2024 Primary Election. 


Positions include County Commissioner District 2, County Commissioner District 4, Sheriff and Precinct Committee Persons.

Recording Information

You can now search for a document that has been recorded in Clatsop County.


We have developed a way for you to search for a document before coming in or calling our office. 


Once you find the document you are looking for, you can request a copy without paying a research fee.  


Just go to our website under Recording Information – Records Research, click on Locate a Document.

Passports

An appointment is required prior to coming in for new passport processing. Routine service can take 6-8 weeks or longer. Expedite service can take 2-3 weeks

Appointment Scheduling Saves You Time

Please go to our webpage and schedule an appointment for passports, park passes, marriage licenses, dog licenses, and recordings with us.


If you do not have an appointment, you may be asked to wait if we are with someone who has scheduled an appointment.
